“Easier to train a geek how to do business than a business guy how to code”

The quote by Lars Hinrichs, tweeted by Heather Russell, was the most retweeted tweet in the London Web Summit which took place this week. This is what we believe at HackFwd and what we have geared our program towards. We look for and support Europe’s most talented, passionate geeks, and with our network of experienced entrepreneurs and professionals, supply them with both business and tech acumen. The quote came from the panel titled ‘Exit Schmexit: Creating Liquidity in Europe” and you can watch the archived video of the panel here.

The panel was covered by Wired especially noting the point about European startups lacking ambition compared to their trans-Atlantic counterparts. Afterwards in the Berlin-focused Silicon Allee’s interview Lars also said that we will see multi-billion companies coming out of Europe, the major bottleneck being the macroeconomic situation at the moment.

  1. rayhano said: The only counter to this is geeks ate often too close to the problem and therefore come out with limited ideas. Case in point: Google over the last 5 years.
